  • Getting wiser (hopefully)

April has gone by and we are well into May. The yearly event of me (hopefully) getting wiser was just a week ago and here I am wondering where all these days went!?

In April I try to take a picture everyday. It’s a cherished practice of mine I started a few years back to keep tracks of precious memories, lights or simply how the natural world shapeshift around me from one year to the next.

    By the sea

I also went for a few days by the sea, spending time with the family gremlins, spying sea-stars and jellyfish, biking inland to catch bird songs and walking feet in the waves while singing sea shanties stolen away by the furious sea wind.

    Health is precious.

Health wise I’ve been going through the journey of taking care of my back, neck, shoulders arms… Well all those zones I tend to neglect while crouching at the top of my chair, fold up over my desk as I draw. I was having quite bad migraines and they were starting to appear a bit too often for my capacity to handle pain (which should not be “handled” really… Rather avoided all together if possible). I’ve had only 2 bad migraines since I started to care for my upper body well being and I see that as a great sign of improvement!

    Birthday sweetness.

Here are my two Birthday cake! One made by my mum on the exact day. A classic strawberries and cream fluffy cake!
The other made for my “wild” birthday party. Which happened in the afternoon and ended before sunset (I really need my alone time after humaning with a lot of humans…) I made a chocolate cake with moss decors and mushroom candle (it was a gardener themed party).

(no, I’m not four years old.)

You reached the end of this update!

I hope you get to enjoy spring if you’re on the northern side of the globe. If not in full bloom at least shyly green and softly blushing in pinks and yellow. If you’re on the southern side well… Enjoy fall you lucky fluff! (If you love fall of course, otherwise… Hang in there).

Here have a shower of flower and cat pics to sooth your soul.

  • Forward to Spring!

    March News and other trinkets.

March is nearly behind us and spring popped over. We’ve had quite a bit of “Giboulées”. That French word (from Belgium?) describes the typical weather of March. The facetious one where you get warm sunny weather two hours then snow, rain and hail all at the same time the next one.

On the art front it was quite a poor month. Though I did went on a museum date and doodled a bit here and there.

Many photo were taken due to the sheer amount of gorgeous vegetation waltzing around every corner and every paths. After the snow drops shied away, the Magnolia had big reveals and were welcomed by weeks of sunny weather before March remember he was supposed to rain and all…
My visit to Meise Botanical Garden may also be responsible for the amount of picture I took… But Botanical gardens are such treasure troves!

I had a lot of sweet craving and baked an audacious amount of cakes to go with my tea, went bird tracking with my new favorite app “Merlin birds” which record their songs and tell you who’s who (amongst other things). I also had my traditional tea-time in the nature with good company to celebrate the season.

On the music side I’ve been obsessed with Miki’s song: “ça pik un peu quand même”. and I keep coming back to November Ultra’s live session at radio Nova’s “chambre noire”.
I also love what Paris Paloma has been up to.
I’ve finished reading “Un jeudi saveur chocolat” by Michiko Aoyama translated to French by Alice Hureau. It wasn’t ground breaking but it was very soft and comforting.
During my museum date I (re)discovered Folon’s art. I mostly knew his watercolor but he did silkscreen printing and other type of traditional print. I was very fond of his small crafty statues with silly faces.

    See ya next post!

  • Winter news:

    Winter news:

February just began, I had my crepes ( I hope you as well) and the first snow drops are poking through the rain, the snow didn’t last…

Speaking of snow, it’s hard to believe, but we had a few days of snow! I’m a big fan of snow and hiking out in nature, so I went for quite a few snow walks.

As you can see…My fellow loved ones and myself had a great time.

On the craft side of news, I’m head deep into many illustrations related things since I’m trying to see if I can make it my full time job for a while. I’m tweaking the website a lot, filling a lot of complex paperwork while trying to keep the creative spark burning. Luckily for me February is the moment I get restless of greys days and snuggle time with books and start to wish for the slow return of actions… So I do have some energy to spare!!
